DoorDash says it banned driver who seemingly faked a supply utilizing AI

**DoorDash Driver Busted for Faking Delivery with AI-Generated Photo: The Wild Wild West of Food Delivery**

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the latest scheme some DoorDash drivers have concocted to fake deliveries and get away with it. So, here’s the deal: an Austin resident named Byrne Hobart had ordered some grub through DoorDash, and when he checked the app, the driver had already marked the delivery as done. But then, things took a weird turn. The driver sent him a photo of the delivery, but it looked… off. Like, suspiciously perfect. Hobart was skeptical, but he didn’t think much of it at first.

That was, until he took a closer look. The photo was clearly a fake. Like, an AI-generated fake. I mean, who does that?! But it gets even crazier. Hobart shared his experience on social media, and someone else chimed in saying they’d had a similar encounter with the same driver in Austin. Same driver, same fake delivery photo. Yeah, this guy was running a one-man operation of fake deliveries!

So, how did the driver manage to pull off this heist? Hobart thinks they used a hacked account on a jailbroken phone to grab a photo of his doorstep from a DoorDash function that shows photos from prior deliveries. Genius, right? I mean, it’s not like they were trying to be subtle or anything.

But, fortunately, DoorDash was onto it. They banned the driver’s account and made sure Hobart was made whole. In a statement to TechCrunch, a DoorDash representative said, “After investigating this incident, our team completely removed the Dasher’s account and ensured the client was made whole. We have zero tolerance for fraud and use a combination of technology and human review to detect and stop bad actors from abusing our platform.”

It’s wild to think that some people are willing to go to such great lengths to scam the system. But hey, at least DoorDash is taking steps to prevent it. You can read the full story over at TechCrunch to learn more about this crazy situation. Just don’t try to fake your own deliveries, or you’ll end up like this guy.
