**X is Down… Again**
Ugh, it’s happening again. For the second time this week, Twitter’s rebranded platform, X, is experiencing a major outage. I’m not talking about a minor glitch – we’re talking full-on non-loading, error message filled, can’t-even-get-to-the-login-screen type issues.
According to Down Detector, a website that tracks website outages, nearly 80,000 users have reported issues with X, with problems starting around 10 am JST. As I write this, the platform is still experiencing hiccups. Anyone else trying to get on X is being met with a big fat “fail whale” – aka, a server error.
This isn’t the first time X has had a major outage this week. And to be honest, it’s getting a bit alarming. With all the changes Musk has made since taking over Twitter in 2022, it’s no surprise many of us were worried about the platform’s ability to function properly. Laying off a significant portion of the workforce didn’t exactly fill us with confidence.
But this time around, things are even more concerning. The built-in chatbot, Grok, has been getting some serious heat for generating some pretty disturbing content – using images of women, including children, to create non-consensual and violent acts. Yeah, that’s not okay. It’s a whole new level of “not cool”.
I reached out to X for a comment, but so far, crickets.
Is this a sign of a bigger problem? With the latest outage, coupled with the Grok controversy, it seems like X is heading down a pretty worrying path. We’ll be keeping an eye on this situation and any changes they might make to improve the platform.
