**Tesla Says Goodbye to the Mannequin S and X: A New Chapter for Autonomy and Robotics**
I’m sitting here with a mix of feelings – nostalgia for the pioneering electrical automobile firm, and excitement for what’s to come – as I write about Tesla’s decision to discontinue the Mannequin S sedan and Mannequin X SUV. In a surprise move, Elon Musk revealed the news this week, citing a shift in focus towards autonomy and robotics.
For many EV enthusiasts, the Mannequin S and X have been staples of the luxury EV market, boasting sporty performance, cutting-edge tech, and a design that’s stood the test of time. But, with the company’s vision now firmly on the horizon, these two models are making their final appearances next quarter.
The Mannequin S was a real trailblazer when it debuted in 2012. With over 10,000 pre-orders within its first year, it won MotorTrend’s 2013 Car of the Year award. The Mannequin X, launched in 2015, gained a loyal following despite its signature “Falcon Wing” doors, which initially gave customers trouble getting in and out of the car.
**Looking Back at the Mannequin S and X**
We can’t ignore the success of the Mannequin S and X. Both models pushed the boundaries of what was possible in EV manufacturing. The Mannequin S, though excellent for its first couple of years, has faced trouble keeping up with the rising competition, while the Mannequin X’s production challenges have been well-documented. Despite this, both models have earned a dedicated following, and for good reason.
The end of production will be felt, but Tesla is already shifting its focus towards a futuristic era of autonomous driving and robotics. The Cybertruck, which has had a rough launch, might be bundled with the three models in this final sales quarter. At the same time, we’re excited to see new partnerships and initiatives that will illustrate the company’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of innovation.
As we say goodbye to the Mannequin S and X, we’re reminded that, at the heart of Tesla’s DNA is innovation. Without taking risks, the company wouldn’t have achieved what it has so far. So, as we look to the future, we’re just as eager to see what’s next for Tesla as we are sad to say goodbye to these iconic cars.
