**Spotify’s Latest Price Hike: A $1 Increase for US Subscribers, But Why?**
Ugh, Spotify’s at it again! For the third time in three years, the music streaming giant has raised its prices, and this time, US subscribers are feeling the pinch. As of their next billing cycle, the cost of Spotify’s month-to-month subscription plan will jump from $11.99 to $12.99. That’s a whole dollar more, people!
The company sent out an email to its paid customers explaining the change, citing that the increase is necessary to “reflect the value that Spotify delivers” – which, let’s be real, is just a fancy way of saying they need the extra cash to keep churning out those ads and profiting artists. But, hey, who are we to argue with the Spocs?
According to a report by the Financial Times, this price hike is expected to rake in an additional $500 million for Spotify, so it’s not just a minor adjustment. And, honestly, this isn’t the first time the company has gone after US wallets. Just last year, they raised prices in the UK and Switzerland, and before that, they hiked prices in the US twice in just three years. So, if you’re a US subscriber, you’ve already seen your prices go up twice in a pretty short span.
Now, I know some of you are probably thinking, “What about all the features and content I get with my subscription?” And, I get it, Spotify does offer a lot of value – but is it really worth a whole dollar more every month? I mean, we’re not exactly swimming in cash over here, you know?
So, what do you guys think? Are you feeling the burn or do you think the extra buck is worth it? Let us know in the comments!
