**Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses: A Hairy Situation**
I just heard the news that Meta is putting the brakes on its plans to bring its Ray-Ban smart glasses to the global market. Apparently, they’re dealing with an insane amount of interest and limited supply, so they’re putting the pause button on the international launch.
As of now, the smart glasses were set to launch in France, Italy, Canada, and the UK in early 2026. But with the overwhelming demand and long waitlists that are getting ridiculous (we’re talking 2026 ridiculous), Meta is taking a step back.
“We’ve seen an incredible amount of interest since launching last fall, and product waitlists now stretch well into 2026,” Meta said in a statement. “Due to this unprecedented demand and limited stock, we’ve decided to pause our planned global expansion.”
The Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses are pretty cool. They’re controlled by a nifty wristband called the Meta Neural Band that can detect hand gestures, allowing you to interact with your surroundings in a super futuristic way. I mean, it’s like something out of a sci-fi movie!
At CES this week, Meta showed off some awesome new features for the glasses and the Neural Band. One of the coolest things is a teleprompter that lets you deliver pre-written remarks on the go. And with the Neural Band, you can even jot down messages on any surface with your finger – and it’ll transcribe it into a digital message! Mind. Blown.
And if you’re wondering what’s new in the land of pedestrian navigation, Meta’s got you covered. They’re adding more cities to the mix – Denver, Las Vegas, Portland, and Salt Lake City are all getting turn-by-turn directions while walking.
While international fans of the smart glasses might be disappointed, Meta is still committed to fulfilling US orders. They’re just going to take some time to reassess their strategy for global availability.
I’m curious to see what happens next with the Ray-Ban smart glasses. Will they be able to meet the demand, or will they have to rethink their plans? Only time will tell!
