**Chevy Bolt EV’s Manufacturing Days Are Numbered – What’s Next for EVs?**
As I was scrolling through my feed yesterday, I stumbled upon some disturbing news – Chevrolet is discontinuing the production of the Bolt EV. Yep, you read that right. The very same car that was once touted as the most affordable EV in the US market, with a price tag of $29,990, is being phased out.
So, what does this mean? Well, for starters, the Trump administration’s tariff policy and the expiration of the federal EV tax credit have made it much more difficult and expensive for GM to produce cars in China and Mexico that can be sold in the US. And as a result, the company has had to make some tough decisions, resulting in the end of Bolt EV production.
But don’t be too quick to bid farewell to the Bolt EV just yet. While its production will likely cease within the next two years, GM has promised to invest in its next generation of affordable EVs. And who knows, maybe – just maybe – we’ll see a resurrection of the Bolt EV in the future. We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed and wait and see.
So, what does this mean for the future of EVs? Well, it’s clear that GM is committed to the EV space, and while the Bolt EV’s production may be ending, the company is still producing other EV models, including the electric Chevy Equinox and Chevy Blazer. And let’s not forget, there are still plenty of other affordable options on the market.
And what about the Fairfax Assembly Plant? Well, we know that the Buick Envision is set to shift from China to Kansas, but what other changes are in store? GM has promised to make new investments in the facility, potentially for the next generation of affordable EVs. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this story and bringing you updates as more information becomes available.
The future of EVs is uncertain, but one thing is clear – the auto industry is constantly evolving, and companies are having to adapt to changing economic and regulatory landscapes. So, while the end of the Bolt EV’s production may be a blow to some, it’s also an opportunity for GM to innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible.
