**xAI in Hot Water Over Dirty Power Play**
Ugh, can you believe it? It looks like Elon Musk’s xAI is in some serious trouble. The company has been busted by the EPA for running dozens of natural gas generators at its Tennessee data centers, and I’m talking **dozens** – we’re looking at around 35 generators, when they were only supposed to have 15.
Apparently, xAI claimed that these generators were only used temporarily, so they didn’t have to follow the rules. But the EPA wasn’t having it. They’ve been working on a new rule for over a year now, and it’s finally come to fruition: xAI is in the wrong.
I know, I know – it’s not like xAI is the only one using natural gas generators. But the thing is, their facility is already in a pretty polluted area, and adding all those extra emissions is just making things worse. And using that many generators wasn’t exactly on the down-low, you know? It’s not like they were sneaking around in the dead of night. They were right out in the open, pumping out all that ozone and particulate matter.
Now, I’m happy to report that xAI has scaled back its generator usage to 12, which is… better, I guess. Still not ideal, but hey, it’s a start. And they’re facing a lawsuit and some serious heat from the EPA and local authorities. Not exactly what you want when you’re already having a tough time.
But here’s the thing: this isn’t the first time xAI has gotten itself into hot water with the EPA. They got fined back in 2022 for violating air quality standards at one of their other data centers. Guess you could say xAI is having a bit of a… well, you know.
