**The EV Trade Just Got a Whole Lot Less Futuristic: China Bans Hidden Door Handles**

Hey there, fellow electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts! I’ve got some big news to share with you all. China, a world leader in EV adoption, has just made a major change that’s about to shake up the industry. As of January 1, 2027, all new cars sold in China will have to have traditional, mechanical door handles on every door (except for the tailgate) and one on the inside. Yeah, you read that right – the sleek and futuristic design that Tesla has popularized for years is officially out, and old-school door handles are back in.

So, what led to this change? Well, it all started with a series of tragic incidents where occupants got trapped in their cars because the door handles couldn’t be opened. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China teamed up with over 40 industry players to develop new safety procedures, and the result is this new requirement.

Now, what does this mean for the EV industry? Tesla, the pioneer behind the design, wasn’t involved in the development of the new rules, but this move is going to have far-reaching implications. It’ll be interesting to see how other countries follow suit and how EV manufacturers adapt to the new requirements.

China is setting a precedent, and I think we can expect other countries to follow. At the end of the day, safety has to be the top priority when it comes to EVs.

You can read more about China’s efforts to tackle this issue [here](link).

What do you guys think about this change? Are you sad to see the end of the hidden door handle trend, or do you think it’s a necessary step towards increased safety? Let me know in the comments!
