**The AI Song That Was Too Good (Or Not Good Enough?) for the Charts**
Hey everyone, I’m still trying to wrap my head around this one – a Swedish song created by artificial intelligence, “Jag vet, du är inte min” by “Jacub”, has been disqualified from the country’s official charts despite racking up 6.9 million streams on Spotify.
So, here’s the lowdown: the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) says that AI-generated music doesn’t qualify for chart eligibility. But wait, it’s still a hit – and fans are eating it up. I’ve given it a listen, and I can see what all the fuss is about. The AI vocals are actually pretty smooth and catchy.
But not everyone’s a fan of the song. Music critics are calling it “music for people without music taste” and going so far as to say it’s “incredibly unnecessary”. Harsh!
I’m curious to know what you guys think: should AI-generated music be counted towards chart eligibility? Let me know in the comments.
If you want to give the song a listen (btw, it’s actually kind of catchy), you can find it on Spotify here: [link]
