Advertisements Are Coming to ChatGPT. Right here’s How They’ll Work

Breaking News: ChatGPT to Start Showing Ads in the US

Hey there, fellow tech enthusiasts! I’m excited to share some big news from OpenAI, the awesome team behind the super-popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT. Starting soon, they’ll be testing ads on their platform in the United States, and I’m here to give you the lowdown on what this means for you.

So, what’s the deal? OpenAI will be inserting ads into ChatGPT’s responses, but don’t worry, these won’t affect the quality of the answers you get. Instead, they’ll be displayed in clearly labeled boxes below the response. For example, if you ask ChatGPT for help planning a trip to New York City, you’ll still get a helpful response, followed by an ad for a hotel in the area.

But here’s the good part: OpenAI promises to be super strict about the kind of ads they’ll be showing. They won’t be using creepy personalized targeting or selling your data to the highest bidder. Instead, they’ll be using a combination of the topic of your conversation and their own algorithms to decide which ads to show you.

I know what you’re thinking: “Wait, what about my personal data? Is OpenAI going to sell it to advertisers?” No way, OpenAI is promising to keep your data safe and private. And if you’re not comfortable with the ad targeting system, you can always opt out.

The first ads will be shown to logged-in users on ChatGPT’s free tier and its new $8-a-month Go tier, which is launching in the US this Friday. The Go tier is already available in other countries, including India and France, and offers more features, like the ability to send more messages and generate more photos.

So, what do you think about this change? Are you stoked to see ads popping up on your favorite AI chatbot, or are you worried about your personal data? Let me know in the comments!
