Hollywood Is Shedding Audiences to AI Fatigue

**The AI Boredom Epidemic: Why Hollywood’s Latest Sci-Fi Flicks Just Don’t Cut It**

I’m not gonna sugarcoat it – I’m seriously over the whole AI thing. And it seems like I’m not alone. From low-budget horror movies to big-budget blockbusters, it’s like every other film is trying to cash in on the AI trend. But with AI seeping into every aspect of our lives, is it any wonder that audiences are tuning out?

Take the new movie _Mercy_, for instance – a law enforcement thriller that’s all about a detective using a fancy AI to solve a murder case. Yeah, because that’s exactly what I want to watch – a movie about a computer program saving the day. The film’s been out since January, and one reviewer has already dubbed it the “worst of 2026″…no surprise there.

I think there are a few reasons why we’re just not buying it anymore. For one, the whole “AI is a scary concept” thing has been done to death. It’s like, yeah, we get it – AIs are powerful and can be a little creepy. But come on, there’s more to the story. And another thing, it seems like every movie is trying to make the point that AIs are secretly good, which, yeah, had to be done by _Tron: Ares_.

And AI isn’t just in the movies. I’ve been reading about Time Studios’ new collection _On This Day…1776_, which is basically a thing with AI-generated content and all sorts of controversy surrounding it. Some people are praising its innovative use of AI, while others are calling out its weird connection to Google DeepMind. It’s basically a hi-tech, super-polished account of the American Revolution, but somehow it comes off as kinda…pro-government-swayed?

Honestly, it’s like the industry is just trying to keep up with the AI hype, but they’re not quite getting it. We’ve moved past the whole robot uprising phase (thankfully). Now we’re dealing with AI in our daily lives, from chatbots to healthcare. Who cares about the apocalyptic fantasies of old and wants to watch movies that talk about it? We need something more substantial, more nuanced.

Where does this leave us? Can Hollywood move beyond the tired tropes and give us something real? Or are we just stuck in this never-ending cycle of lazily-made AI flicks? One thing’s for sure – we’re more than tired of this AI nonsense.
