**Hacking Scandal Rocks the Highest Court in the Land**
I’m still trying to process the news that a 24-year-old from Tennessee, Nicholas Moore, is set to plead guilty to hacking into the US Supreme Court’s digital filing system… like, multiple times, over several months. Yeah, this is some serious stuff. According to a court document, Moore allegedly accessed the system without authorization on 25 different days between August and October 2023. That’s just crazy.
Now, I know what you’re thinking – what kind of info did Moore access, and how did he do it? Well, as of my writing, I haven’t been able to get that kind of info from the relevant authorities. I reached out to a spokesperson for the US District Court for the District of Columbia, and they were tight-lipped. Same for the US Department of Justice. Even Moore’s lawyer, Eugene Ohm, didn’t respond to my email. It’s like they’re all trying to keep this whole thing hush-hush.
It’s not like I’m surprised, though. We’ve seen this kind of thing happen before, like in August when the Administrative Office of the US Courts said they had beefed up their cybersecurity defenses after a cyberattack on their digital court information system, which was allegedly perpetrated by Russian hackers.
I’m talking to myself here, because who else is gonna care about this? But hey, if you’re interested in data breaches or have any info, hit me up. I’m on Signal, Telegram, and Keybase – just scan the QR code.
